# How to Choose Microneedling Cartridge

Choosing a microneedling cartridge can be confusing – especially when you see dozens of different options that all look similar at first glance. To make it easier, we recommend starting from two simple questions: which pen are you using, and what skin concern do you want to target. Once you know this, it becomes much clearer which cartridge type, needle count and configuration will work best for your treatment.

## Fits your pen

It may sound obvious, but the first thing to check is whether the cartridge is actually compatible with your microneedling pen. Always verify which pen models it is designed for: compatible devices are listed in the product name or description, and you can also check the product gallery to compare the shape of your pen with the reference images. A mismatched cartridge simply will not lock into your pen, as different systems use different cartridge shapes and locking mechanisms.

## For what purpose?

In most cases, the choice of cartridge depends on the area you want to treat and the skin concern you want to address. As a general rule, cartridges with fewer needles are used for more precise, targeted work, while cartridges with a higher needle count are better for treating larger areas in a gentler, more diffuse way. Nano cartridges are designed for superficial yet effective treatments that support product penetration and skin glow without significant invasiveness. In each product description and gallery you will find a quick reminder of the most common uses for that cartridge; below are some typical examples:

### 9–11–12 needles

Ideal for focused, intensive work on acne and acne scars, uneven texture, deep wrinkles and more stubborn concerns. They are often chosen for targeted treatment of scars, cellulite-like irregularities and age spots, as well as for stimulating overall skin regeneration on smaller areas.

### 16–18–24 needles

Suitable for treating larger zones while still delivering significant corrective action. These cartridges are commonly used for acne scars, fine and deeper lines, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, collagen induction and even certain types of hair loss on the scalp.

### 36–42 needles

Best for more superficial, comfort-oriented treatments and broad anti-ageing care. They are frequently selected for skin brightening and hydration, shallower scars, under-eye area (including bags and crow’s feet), stretch marks and global wrinkle-softening and anti-ageing protocols.

### Round Nano

Designed for very gentle, surface-level procedures with minimal discomfort. They help create a soft, “velvet” skin finish, enhance the penetration of active nutrients, support skin tone evening, work on dark circles and can be used for “BB glow” or resident foundation–style treatments, as well as general moisturising and rejuvenation.

### Silicone Nano

Perfect for daily or very frequent care, especially on delicate areas like lips and around the eyes. These cartridges are often used to support eyelash and eyebrow growth serums, painless nutrient delivery, gradual tone-evening and brightening, as well as hydrating and rejuvenating treatments for sensitive zones.

## Individual preferences and sensitivities

Flexible pen settings and a wide range of cartridges make it possible to tailor each treatment to your individual comfort level. For thin, sensitive or couperose-prone skin, cartridges with fewer needles and shorter needle length settings are usually the best choice, as they help minimise trauma and reduce the risk of irritation. In contrast, thick, dense or scarred skin usually tolerates longer needles and a smaller number of more “aggressive” pins, which allows for deeper, more intensive work on texture and scars. Remember that needle lengths over 1.0 mm should only be used by trained professionals, and if you are working with serums, always check the recommended needle depth and any specific usage guidelines provided by the manufacturer.
